CIPD Hosts Briefing on Performance Management for Strategic Advantage
Executive Coach Gerry Walsh Addresses CIPD Event for HR Professionals in Cork

Cork, 16 January 2013: The CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) Southern Region briefing, sponsored by Fastnet Recruitment, attracted over 100 HR & Business professionals to an event on performance management this week. The keynote speaker, Gerry Walsh, Director of Spruce Consulting Ltd and former Bord Gáis CEO, gave an insightful presentation on leadership and management performance in companies.

Walsh discussed the greatest management challenge of all, how to get all your people ‘rowing in the same direction’. He spoke about highly successful and about dysfunctional teams and ultimately about the importance of the senior leadership team’s role in delivering on organizational strategy.

‘We can tend to focus a lot on teams within the organization but do we put enough emphasis on the effectiveness of the Senior Executive Team? – we need to confront the issues, encourage conflict and diversity and in some instances show vulnerability’ said Walsh

The event provided HR and business professionals from indigenous and multinational organisations in the Cork region with a refreshing take on leadership and teams.
