As a Safety Manager you will play a crucial role in overseeing and implementing safety measures to ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards with various clients in Cork. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and mitigate risks associated with medical devices and technology products.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation of the construction safety strategy into the projects, with a focus on Behavioural Bases.
- Review of the construction and C&Q HSE plans.
- Review of Method Statements and Risk Assessments
- Review of the work permits and SPA's / JSA's / TRA's.
- Support/advise the project manager during all phases of the project concerning safety performance (leading and lagging indicators).
- Coach/support the EL Engineering construction managers and project managers with the latest practices and procedures.
- Review existing safety procedures, and feedback to senior management with recommendations for updates and changes.
- Coach/support the contractors with practices and procedures.
- Roll out / implement a safety incentive plan.
- Participate in the EHSE checklist review.
- Participate in the constructability review.
- Track safety statistics and start-up improvement plans if needed.
- Establish a relationship with the client and local EHS team and get familiar with the local (safety) procedures.
- Lead and/or support incident investigations.
Requirements:
- A third-level qualification in Environmental Safety, Occupational Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a comparable environment.
- Proven construction safety management excellence, demonstrated over multiple assignments.
- Knowledge of Medical Devices and Pharmaceutical product development and manufacturing facilities and plant operations are highly desirable.
- SME for safety and environment.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
