Over the past number of years, Fastnet – The Talent Group® has developed a very good working relationship with Cork Institute of Technology (CIT), collaborating with a number of different departments.
On a regular basis our colleagues conduct workshops around Career Choices, CV Optimisation and Interview Preparation. There is always a very high level of engagement with the students during these sessions. The group projects highlight to the students what skills and attributes are required to develop and manage their careers throughout their working lives.
Annually we attend CIT's Employability & Career Fair, where our talent consultants meet students interested in pursuing a career in the Life Sciences industry. We work proactively with the Career Services team to help students and graduates gain initial employment, maintain employment, and obtain new employment.
We work with the CIT alumni team to build awareness around career prospects and industry opportunities in Ireland and to promote the country as a destination of choice for life science professionals.
Finally, Fastnet participates in the annual CIT Joint Mentorship Programme. This programme aims to match current students with professionals (the majority of whom are graduates), from a wide range of sectors to exchange business experience, knowledge, expertise and career advice. The initiative aims to enhance connections between CIT students and alumni in relevant industries as well as encouraging and supporting engagement between the Institute as a whole and the alumni community.
Just a word of thanks for the very valuable presentation by Fastnet's Marketing Manager Laura Curtin. The students found the presentation to be engaging, insightful and helpful from a sales and marketing orientation, with plenty of real life examples provided. The CV guidance was also very well received, in particular by our Year 3 students.
