5 Questions with Ryan Malone - Graduate Talent Consultant

5 Questions with Ryan Malone - Graduate Talent Consultant

Ryan joined the Fastnet team in July 2017 as the first Graduate Talent Consultant, specialising in recruiting Quality and Laboratory professionals for clients in the Pharma, Biopharma, Medical Device and the Agri/Food sectors.

He is a valuable asset to the Fastnet team, due to his familiarity with the sector accompanied with his enthusiastic approach to Human Resources and the recruitment process.

We caught up with Ryan to find out more on his role at Fastnet, what motivates him as a Talent Consultant and where he finds inspiration to delight, develop and succeed in his role.

Why did you join Fastnet- The Talent Group?

Fastnet is the market leader in the Life Sciences sector and having just completed my BSc. in Chemical Sciences I wanted to join a company where I could utilise my degree and also help people achieve their career goals.

Working with companies in the life sciences industry and the leaders of tomorrow is a very rewarding experience. I would describe myself as a very outgoing person with an entrepreneurial spirit and I was right to believe that Fastnet would really help me utilise my strengths to develop myself and my career.

What do you like most about your job?

I see myself as an entrepreneur and enjoy getting to build relationships so recruitment ticks all the boxes in that sense. With recruitment you get the opportunity to build your own mini business with clients and candidates in a very fast paced environment. Another thing I love is that no two days are the same, you are always meeting new people and working on new exciting projects that challenge you from all angles.

What do you do to unwind?

In a job that is largely sedentary I think it is important to keep fit. I have always been a huge sports fan and have played GAA from a young age. I currently play Gaelic Football 4 nights a week, when I’m not playing football I’m planning some trips away with friends or playing PS4.

If you could step into the shoes of one business person for a day, who would it be and why?

Elon Musk. I think he is at the forefront of some of the largest technological advances that we have seen in recent years and I have read some reports that he works up to 100 hours a week. I would love to step into his shoes for a day and see exactly how he prioritises his time while working on some of the most exciting projects in the world.

In three words or less, how do you define success?

Living life passionately.
