The Talent of the Future

Over the past number of years Fastnet has established strong partnerships with third level institutions to ensure we stay connected with the talent of the future and to help students build awareness around career prospects and industry opportunities.  Recently we attended UCC and CIT career fairs. It was highly encouraging to engage with hundreds of enthusiastic and talented students, many interested in pursuing STEM careers.

On October 9th our team attended the UCC Graduate Career Fair.  There was a lot of interest in learning about graduate placement programmes and companies expanding operations in Ireland.  Most students had a Business, Finance, Quality or IT background. On September 26th our team participated in the CIT Employability & Careers Fair.  There was great interest in learning about Quality, Engineering, Marketing, Manufacturing, AI and HR roles.  

At both events the Fastnet team was available to talk to students about how to approach the current market and what to expect in terms of recruitment processes. The students gained valuable advice on CV optimisation, developing a star LinkedIn profile and how to prepare for competency-based interviews.  Special thanks to our colleagues Aoife O’Mahony, Terry Yelverton, Adam Cambridge, Sinead Casey, Edgar Strakovskij, Siobhan Lane and Laura Curtin who proved to be great ambassadors for Fastnet and for careers in the life science sector. 

On September 24th Fastnet hosted an Engineering Open Day in our Cork and Dublin offices.  The focus was on meeting manufacturing and process engineers.  On the day, our Engineering Talent Consultants met with candidates who had a minimum of 2 years’ experience and interested in Engineering roles in the Pharma, Biopharma and Medical Device sectors.

Over the coming months we will continue to be innovative and proactive in building our candidate network and pipeline, to ensure we continue to bring the very best talent to our clients.
