Grow Your Own Graduates!

A Cork based firm has a new take on how it creates a pipeline of new talent, hire the right candidates and develop future team leads.

That’s Fastnet – The Talent Group who recently launched its unique ‘Grow Our Own’ graduate programme.

As a talent and recruitment consultancy, the Fastnet graduate programme sees graduates embarking on a two year training programme, developed to grow talent for the Fastnet team in the short and longer term.

The programme includes a six-month plan covering all aspects of the Fastnet business, including: partnering with clients and candidates on recruitment processes; creative use of digital marketing and insight into HR consulting. The new hires spend year one in the Talent Acquisition division focused on quality and laboratory and year two in engineering.

Managing partner Niamh O’ Driscoll said: “We are very fortunate to have developed a team of highly competent and truly exceptional people, and much of our success has come from growing our own.

“Given the growth that we are seeing in client demand for talent, we are leading by example and implementing a new internal strategy with this graduate programme.”

In recent months, Ryan Malone joined from DIT, where he graduated with a BSc in Chemical Sciences with Medicinal Chemistry.

He is now specialising in recruiting quality and laboratory professionals for Fastnet clients in the pharma, biopharma, medical device and food agri sectors.

Sanathan Govender, a graduate of UCC and WIT with a Masters in Work and Organisational psychology, joined the Engineering Talent Acquisition team last month, and there are exciting plans for additional hires in 2018.

Fastnet has experienced significant growth over the last couple of years, and continues to expand teams across Cork and the Dublin footprint.

The company has also seen demands for talent within its client companies increase at exponential rates over the last two years.

This has both increased and accelerated the graduate opportunities in those organisations too, said Dave Barry, Director of Talent and Transformation at Fastnet.

He explained “In tandem with the client Talent Management focus of our Talent and Transformation division, optimising internal talent management continues to be a strategic priority for us, and the creation of the ‘Grow Our Own’ graduate programme was borne out of that objective. Within talent consultancy, it is innovative and already producing very tangible results for us”
