Summary:

The Electrical & Instrumentation Design Lead is accountable for Electrical Safety in design and life cycle of all E&I installations and equipment in support of Capital Projects, Technical, Maintenance, Operations and HSE. This is to ensure electrical, instrumentation and functional safety is maintained and improved through design, across the site.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that EP's/REPs and any related procedures associated with the E&I discipline, are followed during the design phase.
  • Supports the review and maintenance of Technical Documents, EPD's, HAC's, ATEX and SIS / Functional Safety documents associated with E&I design.
  • Inputs into the development of a lifecycle map for EOL equipment and supports the technology strategy and implementation plans for new equipment, suitable for use in a sustainable energy future.
  • Provides E&I technical support primarily to capital projects but also operations, maintenance, HSE and specialist engineers within term contracts in support of the E&I Engineering Lead, as required.
  • Responsible for providing the E&I technical information to procurement for new and replacement equipment.
  • Demonstrate Safety Leadership by being an active member of audit groups and assisting/leading incident investigations.
  • Supports the provision of E&I expertise for Process Safety Studies, e.g. PHAs, HAZID's / HAZOPs, SIL reviews and LOPAs
  • Supports the E&I Engineering Lead to develop the E&I Long Range Plan and budget, ensuring key safety and reliability spends are identified and forecasted.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified Electrical Engineer with design experience within refining or a similar SEVESO industry. Additional qualification in Instrumentation, Functional Safety, ATEX or related experience is highly desirable.
  • Comprehensive understanding of design within Electrical networks, Instrumentation, safety systems, and process control systems equipment used within refining or industrial operations.
  • Experience in E&I Engineering design within capital projects and maintenance with knowledge of High-Tension Electrical equipment including electrical transmission systems, transformers, motors etc.
  • Considered an authority of the E&I discipline and able to effectively manage complex problems and provide unique and innovative design solutions.
  • Strong Leadership and people management skills.
