Fastnet Take on GT5K

Our Fastnet colleagues recently took on Grant Thornton Ireland’s 5K (GT5K) which was held in Cork on Tuesday 13th June. 

It was a beautiful sunny evening and we thoroughly enjoyed the event and the atmosphere as we painted the town purple.

The race series, which is the country’s largest and longest-running corporate event, encourages social running amongst Ireland’s business community and welcomes all abilities, from beginners to experienced runners. Organised by the national governing body, Athletics Ireland, the GT5K supports the top emerging young athletes in Ireland through the Athletics Ireland Junior high-performance programme, which supports and develops athletes in Ireland of all ages, disciplines and abilities.

This year, the chosen charity was Children in Hospital Ireland, which works to promote a positive hospital experience for all children by mobilising over 500 volunteers to facilitate play and respite, daily in 14 children’s hospitals around the county. For over 50 years they have been working on behalf of families and carers facing childhood illness, to ensure they can access the supports and services they need.
